O.M. Kiam
O.M. Kiam came to Astoria, NY at the age of 7 from Amman Jordan in 1967, where he lived with his six brothers and sisters for eight years. Omar graduated from Aviation High School as a licensed mechanic at a time when airlines were laying off workers. After high school Omar spent several years in various locations in the United States, enjoying a freedom he never had in New York. Omar has been to Jordan several times, getting reacquainted with his culture. These journeys, the ensuing ordeals he faced, and the subsequent help he received shaped Omar into someone who loves to help others. This is his way of paying it forward.
Omar is a prolific reader whose favorite authors include Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe and Dostoyevsky.
