In 1977, Gerry O'Brien was the youngest candidate to ever run for the New York City Council, at 18. During the mid-1980s, he worked in Washington as Deputy Creative Director at Odell, Roper & Associates, a political direct mail firm. After returning to New York, Gerry O'Brien became a political consultant.
In 2000, Gerry ran John McCain's New York State presidential campaign, waging an uphill petition fight and federal lawsuit against NY’s byzantine ballot process. His first novel, 1901, is making the rounds at publishing houses.
