Amy Barnes is a mom to two intellectually gifted kids that also love Tae Kwon Do, dance, baton twirling, trumpet, flute and learning Chinese. Her Advocate Mom super vision help makes the difference between an IEP and a GEIT crystal clear. She can leap a stack of parent right’s copies in a single bound. When gifted services in her school district needed an overhaul, she joined with parents, administrators and educators to enact change through a SWOT analysis and a newly formed gifted services task force.

When she is not advocating for her kids’ educations or chauffeuring, she is a freelance writer, editor and online course facilitator. For the past twelve years, she wrote a monthly parenting column for Ladybug Books. She also creates and teaches college-level online courses for JERGroup on subjects ranging from journaling to Southern Literature. Her writing credits include publications like McSweeneys, Gayot, The Giggle Guide and EverydayHealth. She and her husband work as a team to create creativity, coaching and self-help apps including the Outline Coach.
