Do you know why your clients love you?
What makes you different from your competitors?
You should, or you just might change what is making you successful.
Here’s how it happened.
I came up with a bright new idea for my home office. But first, keep in mind that I make the best coffee in the world. Seriously. Some people have been known to drive 6 hours for a single cup. If anyone I know goes on vacation, the first thing they shout out upon their return is GIMME THE COFFEE.
Ok, so here’s how I ruined it.
I got one of those “by the cup” coffeemaker things, thinking that it might be nice to be able to make a cup of coffee faster. (The mistake? Thinking faster is better.) You should have seen everyone’s face when they saw the new coffeemaker on the counter.
Next, I noticed all of the cups were left out half-filled with their undrunken coffee.
But the final straw was when I over-heard a house guest say “I went to bed thinking of the coffee…”
YO! I plunked the coffee maker off the counter. Restored normalcy. Everyone is once again drinking the best cup of coffee in the world. They might have to wait a few minutes for it to brew, but no one is complaining.
That other coffeemaker was never seen again.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be sure you know WHY you are good. And don’t change a thing.
