Many people speak about creating a balance in life, one that allows you to enjoy both your personal life and also your professional life.
I do not believe in trying to balance the two. Making a conscious effort to schedule X amount of time for each one rarely works in reality.
Why?
John Lennon penned the lyrics in his song, “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy),” “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” The Universe guides our journeys, always leading us to our highest and best life. The path rarely, if ever, runs smoothly, free of detours.
Well, I used to think “detours” was the appropriate word when I found my own life leading in totally unexpected directions – only to eventually reach the destination I never knew I wanted to see and live – yet turned out to fit me perfectly.
Life, it turns out, is a series of lessons that allow our souls to grown and our minds to expand in ways unknown to us and certainly unavailable in our awareness as we lay out our schedules and goals. The unexpected directions we follow rarely match the map we programmed into our personal or professional GPS and calendars.
Ah, but the good news is that everything always happens perfectly according to a bigger plan, one that benefits the bigger picture and all of mankind. For life is a community experience of service and sharing. It is about receiving for the very act of sharing – as witnessed by the huge growth in technologies that are bringing better living conditions to third world countries – not through plans or programs of big business but through individual entrepreneurs with visions who live from the heart.
This mode of cooperation for the betterment of all creates a new definition of balance, one that makes sense and actually works.
As other cultures move beyond the survival mode, new possibilities for never-thought-of-before realities take shape. Each new vision brings together talented people from all over the globe without anyone ever having to leave their homeland.
Balance now becomes an ever-unfolding puzzle with infinitely many pieces comprising a unified goal of better life for all.
